Lacking Power?

I have recently replaced my ageing 200 series Discovery with a '95 300 series.
The vehicle is generally far more refined, but.....
It seems to lack 'Bottom end' power (Below about 2000rpm).
The motor runs fine, it just feels a bit flat, particularly on an incline.
The car has covered 140,000 miles.

Any thoughts?

I don't have a diesel but from what I have heard in the past here are some ideas.
Air filter
Plugged fuel filter
Timing off
Dirty injectors
I don't know if this will help at all.
