Personally I have never considered fitting them. IMO if you are driving defined tracks they are of no use, however, if you were to decide to make you own trails then they could be useful. Just because a lot of people have them doesn't mean you are of any use to them. I suppose you could hang out your clothes if they get wet. Lots of people also have lifted 4x4 with bigger than standard tires that never or seldom go off-road.

This is very true. But I live in AZ, and all of the bushes that we have are really shap poky stuff, and even if you follow other tracks, its narrow enough to scratch you. Its not a real big deal, I don't care that much about the paint, but does it help alot to go to Home Depot and get $5 worth of stuff, or would i just be wasting time?

On the east coast they are very useful.. the trails here are always tight for rovers.. i'm talking about defined trails, either on public land or at private pay-to-play parks.. They lift the branches off the window you you can A) see better and B) protect your windshield.

I have mixed results with mine (also east coast, defined trails). Shorter, lighter branches will tend to snap back into your windscreen or side window as they try to climb the riser and don't have sufficient length. Longer branches will rise up and over, though. My experience has been that if the branch reaches to at least the midpoint of the windscreen, then it will follow the guidance of the riser and rise over my vehicle. All in all, I still put them on when I head off-road, but I went the inexpensive, built-them-myself route. I certainly wouldn't spend the money for the kits I've seen that run into the hundreds of $$. They do look good, though, so if you have the spare cash...

You might want to hold onto that! ;)
lol
W/ the top chopped, I'll have bigger problems than tree limbs if I move back east. Rain may force my rig into trial-only use. Which could lead to a whole host of other fun mods :buttrock:
