Hello all! First, this site doesn’t seem to let me post anywhere but here. What’s the deal with that? I can’t post in the DIY section, which seems to be the most relevant. Anyway, I’ve owned a 2010 LR4 HSE since almost new. I’ve paid it off and want to keep it for as long as possible. I need to replace the passenger side rear plastic wheel arch aka fender flare (the plastic trim panel above the wheel). There are two in the rear - I just need to replace one of them which was badly scraped. I can buy an OEM version online for about $100. My LR4 is Bimini Red. I can also buy a touch up paint repair kit that comes with clear coat and Bimini red spray cans (like spray paint cans) for about $70. That’s much cheaper than a body shop. I would then bring it to a detail place to wash and buff the whole car to attempt to blend it together without painting the surrounding area. If I go to a body shop, they will probably charge $750-1000 and paint the surrounding areas to blend it in. Has anyone tried what I’m thinking about doing and if so, how did it come out? Is it a bad idea? I’m not planning on selling the my LR4 any time soon, but I don’t want the fender flare to stand out like a sore thumb either! Thanks for any advice!

I was trying to post this question in the DIY thread, bc I thought it was relevant there. But when I was there and in other threads, no plus sign appears at the top of the screen, which I believe is the post command that allows people to post. I’m new so I could be wrong, but the plus allowed me to post here. That’s why I asked why I could only post here - seems to be a rule for new people for some reason. Anyway, I’m hoping someone will respond to my question even thought it’s texhnically in the wrong place, but not by choice. Sorry about that.
