I'm coming to Washington DC for a 2 year posting with work and have a 2005 Land Rover Discovery 2.7 Diesel currently in the UK.

As my time in the US is only going to be 2 years, I've found a car shipping firm that can move the car for a pretty small price (less than 1000 Uk). All in all, its cheaper to ship the car back and forward than buy a new car. This is my second tour in the US and the last time buying and selling a car at a 2 year turn around while still having a car in the UK was financially crippling.

I've been trying to find out about importing a diesel disco, all the threads appear at least 4 or 5 years old and state that there is no way to do it.

Does anybody have the facts and maybe a link where there is a definitive answer?

I love my Disco and have no desire to leave it behind in storage!!!

Any help from my American cousins would be massively appreciated!!

I used to grey market vehicles and only speak from what I know, but I feel it is safe to say there is no way in hell you will be allowed to ship it into the states.
You might contact the Motor Vehicle Dept of the state you are moving to to confirm .
