Hi! I am new to the forums, too. I just picked up a 2000 Disco with 119k. The previous owners were meticulous with the maintenance and keeping records. They have a spare engine and offered to let me have parts from it if I wanted. I am pretty clueless about that kind of thing. Can you recommend any engine parts I can take that might become handy down the line? Thanks for posting the high mileage maintenance schedule! That is excellent!

Hello....I am new to the thread:) But wanted folks to know that I had an on going problem with leaking coolant...I finally had my 03 Disco with 181,279 miles original head gaskets & spark plugs replaced...and omg the truck runs so much better...no more leaks...Having to ride around with a bottle of coolant for the past year...has been a great relief..for those who don't think the Disco will run past 150,000 miles...I am living proof..Prior to the head gasket work being done...I had the valve covers replaced, water pump and thermos. replaced...but I kept having this leak...
Where is the leak at? Anyway, check the throttle body heater just in case. I had a leak and that was the issue. Easy fix.

Make sure that you replace your coolant pressure cap and t/stat cause they do wear ot, especially with DexCool.

How about 50% coolant and distilled water or buy the 50/50 premixed coolant.
When doing that make sure you add a new 180 degree t/stat for better cooling.

What are your thoughts on changing Trans fluid on high milers? Saw somewhere they said don't touch it if it has high miles and never been changed before.

Just bought a 2004 D2 with 124K. Appears it was taking good care of, but getting ready to do major service as a preventative and a baseline.

I'm trying to track down two leaks from under the d2. Looks like coolant and power steering. Are the plastic "plates" necessary? They are in the way, and I can't seem to remove them without removing major items. Can I just cut them out and throw away?

2004 Discovery 2, 124,000 miles.
