Help
My 96 disco diesel auto’ abs warning light keeps coming on. If I push both front sensors back in the light goes out and the abs is ok for a couple of weeks. Then it starts to work intermittently and then finally not at all until I push the sensors back in.
It has been tested by a main dealer; he said replace both front sensors as they had an open circuit. If that’s correct why do they work when I push them back in?
Has anybody else had a problem like this?

Abs

Hi 4x4,

You have my every sympathy, I had a problem with the ABS on my '97 Disco. I did everything and eventualy found the fault in the stop/brake light switch. However, the sensors in the wheel hubs are really sensitive, take them out and give them a good clean, especially around the area they are seated in, when you push them back in really give them a good shove to make sure they are seated in. Check for continuity through the sensors 900 to 1200 ohms seems to be the standard ( mine where 1040 on 3 and 1020 on the other) Also check for any play in the wheels bearings, any play will allow the sensor ring to 'wander' out of true and the sensor will fail to 'see' the teeth bringing the ABS light on.

Best of luck mate,
Wes
