Morning

Ive had my motor for around 5 months now now and ive had nothing but trouble, the usual suspension and hand brake problems but now the clutch is slipping when i go above 2000rpm in 5th 0r 6th so thats a new clutch needed soon ,but the thing that has me puzzled is when i turn the ignition on i get a letter E on the screen where the 123456 shows up ,i cant remember seeing this before so i was hoping someone could tell me what it means

Thank you

Tony

I haven't see this on LandRover - but if 123456 do not show - the sensor (or wiring) that tells the dash which gear it is in (manual transmission) ? is probably not working and E is for Error ..... ?

I guess no issue to drive the car like this - in the old days we didn't need indicator to tell us which gear we are in ...:)

First off, what model vehicle do you have, and where are you? IE: TDV6?

There is a lever and assembly that rusts up on the outside of the transmission for the gear shift that gets rusty, etc.
today the handbrake warning came on so thats obviously trying to tell me something. clutch slipped a bit again today

ahem
oops sorry

Sorry mate its a 2.7 tdv6 2005 manual.there seems to be a few things going wrong with it just now and im starting to regret buying it
I'm confident all the issues can be resolved. Now that I know what you have, we can try to start.

These are good vehicles, but some effort may be required to get it up to shape, and keep it there. Once you are there, it should be an enjoyable experience.

I think it might be worthwhile to look at Bodsy's Brake Bible and see what's going on with the park brake. These vehicles seem to be famous for cascading seemingly unrelated errors that mislead you as to the actual cause. For example a bad brake light switch. Which if you have not replace is worthwhile.

I would start with the brake light switch, and ensure all brake bulbs are working and OEM. The element should be vertical as well.

Here is the Brake Bible as well, for kicks. DISCO3.CO.UK Photo Gallery - Bodsy's Brake Bible/Bodsy's Brake Bible Version 1.6a - LATEST VERSION
