G'day!
I've been lurking for a bit, reading and enjoying everyone else's Land Rover adventures ... well I can finally participate as I have just picked up my first Land Rover! A 1981 Series III LWB "Panel Van". It was originally a 4-cyl Petrol, but somewhere along the line it was fitted with a straight 6 Holden 186CID and also converted to dual fuel (petrol, that's gasoline for the Americans, and LP Gas - with dual tanks). Runs great and is very solid.
My first test drive was a bit of an eye opener, but once I got used to the accelerator/clutch idiosyncrasies and learned how to find the correct gears consistently I feeling very happy. I'm still getting used to the turning radius, or lack thereof, but hey, it gives me an excuse to slow down and enjoy the scenery.
I'm sure I'll have questions in the coming weeks for all those who are more experienced... and I'll be showing off some more pics. (Hopefully this first pic shows up OK!)
