Hey guys, new member from Long Island New York. Thanks for having me. I have always been a Volkswagen guy, and posting on a forum other than Club Touareg or TDI Club just seems wrong... I am currently awaiting the fate of my 2010 Touareg 3.0 TDI which I will be selling back to VW this summer/fall in light of the deiselgate scandal. I won't ramble because this isn't a VW forum, but I truly love my Touareg and will be very sad to let it go. It will definitely go down in history as one of the best investments I ever made, and one of my favorite vehicles. It looks as if the buy back option is financially just too good to pass up, so I found myself in the market for a new SUV. I have always liked the LR4 and have just purchased a 2013 HSE LUX. So far I like it, but man do I wish there was a diesel option here in the states... I'm glad Land Rover decided to give us the option in 2016, but I am partial to the boxy style and the 2013 was a bit easier on my wallet. Anyway, I'm sure that I will have many questions for you guys in the near future. I will post this elsewhere, but there are a few things that I would like to adjust on this 2013 LR4 HSE. Can anyone suggest a reasonably priced diagnostic tool that will allow for some programming/re-coding? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Welcome and congrats on the purchase!
I have a buddy across the pond from you in
CT suffering from VW withdraw as well, taking
advantage of the buy back. I'm sort of thinking
Land Rovers are a dime a dozen on the Island, we
used to anchor over there all the time back in
the day.

Thanks! Yeah, I gotta tell you, the Rover will have to be an exceptional vehicle in order to fill the Touareg's shoes. I truly hope it is, fingers crossed. I'm up in CT all the time! I fly out of Yale New Haven Hospital at least 5 times a week. I was actually having some difficulty finding an LR4 that fit my needs here on the Island. I feel lucky to have found such a nice one. Beaches open in March!! Wish me luck.

There you go, hit the beach!
Very familiar with Yale/New Haven, I lived in CT myself
for a number of years, owned a home in Clinton, my
old shop was in Branford and we used to sail out of
Old Saybrook. As a contractor, did a lot of work around
Yale/NH also did some work over on the island, not a lot,
maybe 3 jobs over 10 years......Sold the house in Clinton
like 10 years ago, currently hiding in Kentucky looking
to get back to the Northeast..

Ok, I'm very familiar with that area. Shoreline medical center, Lawrence and Memorial hospital in New London. Small world. Don't move to Long Island though, the taxes are too high!! The fishing is a little better here compared to Kentucky though I'm sure...

LOL.....No worries about me moving to LI, your
taxes are nuts! I do ship to customers on LI
more than one would think, it's almost surprising!
CT is way off my radar as well, that state has become
extremely stupid and not small business friendly.
Besides, all you Long Island folks are coming over
and buying up our shoreline because your getting
taxed out over there! Oh well........

Looking further North, Maine/NH or VT......need to unload
this place first, KY is easy to buy, hard to sell! And as
a Long Islander, you'd say I was fibbing if I told you
pricing out here & tax base......We ducked the housing
crash just in time up there!

You too with that wife move!!

Mass.....is a 'no'.......Only area doing well is Boston
if your into that sort of.....thing. Father in law
commutes to Boston off the Cape......Ugh. Besides,
you don't want to be called a Masshole...

We're the rural types, even in Clinton we were up out
of the way of Rt. 1.......Had 3 acres there, I wrapped the
property in a off road trail, many didn't make it, lots of
rock 2 miles off the beach, lots of great parties on that property.

All I know is land is inexpensive around western Mass just north of the CT border. I like rural, would love 2-3 acres someday... That's not too much to ask for is it? I know how to party! A little difficult to throw a big one on my .1 acres however...

Western Mass.........You've just entered the 'Untalked About
Wheeling Zone"......Some of the crawling around in
North Adams.....but we don't talk about it on the web. A
magazine did a write up of the area.....they weren't allowed
to publish trail names or area give-a-ways! You also have
the Hudson Valley Wheelers across the river....another good
bunch of guys......Camping in Southern VT....5 bucks a night,
don't get me going.....I've spent w a y too much time in that
area on the trails!
