Hi guys,

Joining the forum because I'm moving and trying to get rid of a set of 5 18 inch D2 rims in factory fresh condition. I'm guessing there is a classified section but new members can't see it right away for spam reasons.

I'm a paramedic out in the pacific northwest region, and I've never really joined a LR forum because my old disco 2 has been completely reliable and without fault for the past 5 years I've owned it. I think if I ever don't want it anymore, having a dead reliable 4.0 bosh with 200k miles means that I have to donate the truck to the Smithsonian as a priceless artifact, right?

Bought it from the original owner, a very wealthy woman in her 40's, who had the heads pulled and milled by a LR specialist as a prophylactic measure (the thing came with like 20 grand in service records) It's a standard black D2 SE7 with basic quality of life stuff like a sturdier billet rear step strut, downsized the wheels to 16's for some proper meaty AT's on the stock ride height (hence getting rid of the 18's) D1 wiper arms with silblades that are still working after 5 freaking years, and good basic maintenance. I'm keeping the air suspension in good quality. It's got the three amigos on, but I have honestly just never cared enough to go after that yet out of laziness, and the ABS/traction control/4wd brake management/ride height seem to still work fine. Just don't have hill descent. It's an early year '02 model, has the center diff lock but no actuator on the low range lever, so one of these days I need to install the D1 lever that I have sitting aside.

I guess joining here, I do have a question - My truck has a minor windshield leak around the top seal. Have any of you ever replaced that seal without replacing the heated windshield, and if so, how much did it cost to have done? I've always just been lazy and driven it regularly with the AC on to dehumidify it if it ever got rained on hard enough to leak.

So I may be not super active here since my truck is so damn reliable, but if y'all need (or know someone who does) a full set of mint 18' D2 rims, I'm only looking for $100 total plus shipping or pickup if you're in the PNW!

are you selling hurricanes?

I had a disco once that leaked across the top of the windshield. I ran a strip of black pipe wrap across the top of the windshield, similar to this (but without markings of course):

that did the trick, as long as it's not your sunroof leaking.

welcome to the forum BTW.

are you in WA, OR, or ID?

I didn't know they were called hurricanes (makes sense, every alloy rim ever has a name for some reason) but yep, that's what they are. Full 5 wheel set of 18 inch hurricanes in cherry condition with center caps.

I'm in Washington.

And it's definitely the windshield, my sunroof and its drainage tubes were all inspected when I had the headliner replaced. It sprung a decent leak, I improvised a seal, and it's developed another very small leak since then, so I'd rather just have it fixed properly, I'm not planning on getting rid of it anytime soon and Washington's rain sure can be relentless.

I dunno if you ever make your way to the evergreen speedway up north, but I also work as a rescue medic up there in my offtime. Right now I'm finishing up a stint at Evergreen Hospital in Kirkland and returning to the field as a medic down south in Tacoma. I never worked much in SKRFA/VRFA, I spent my career downtown or on the Eastside.

I am on duty until midnight so cant take pictures of them that anyone would want to actually look at until the morning, going to swap the generic pics for actual ones in the AM.

We are moving to port orchard soon and I won't have as much storage. So it was between the wheels I have for nothing really other than the originality of the truck anymore, or my old suzuki enduro basket case.

Bike won. If anyone who wants them needs 'em shipped, I'll take the time to have the junk all season tires taken off.

The only pics I have of my truck are post-wheels, and pre "used the side steps as impromptu rock sliders on the Naches pass"

I have the roof rack off right now for mileage since it's been towing a flatbed and large utility trailer back and forth from port orchard. I love how this truck tows, particularly with the air suspension. But after getting my bikes, workbenches, tool chests, and race car in the garage, I suddenly realized just how little storage I've got.

Yes my work (in normal times) takes me from the Canadian border down to Olympia/Tumwater, but I’m “stationed” in Federal Way.

I was just in Port Orchard on Sunday, admiring the sprawling landscape.

it sounds like you need a bigger garage!
