so I just got new tires put on my Discovery yesterday. The got Michelin xc lt4 in the stock 235/70/16 size.

Here is my problem, when I hit around 60mph I get a sound like something is rubbing (but nothing is) from the front pass. side. If I am below that speed I dont hear the noise. Any clues? I am thinking maybe balance issue :dunno:

So got a question for you, are you driving a D1 or a DII??? Will make a difference due to the difference of tire clearance between the 2 trucks.
Neither should rub or make noise at a higher speed and not at a slower speed.
With the noise coming from the r/f side, I am wondering if that wheel was curbed hard and your tire angle is off?
Have you crawled under and checked for any shiney spots on the tire from rubbing? If it is a D1, have the hubs been serviced, maybe getting dry?
Just ideas,
Mike J.

yeah its a 97 DI.

No shiney spots anywhere. The last time the hubs were touched where when the rotors were replaced back in the summer June or July. They are the stock tire size and just had them replaced. Put maybe 75 miles on them so far. I dont think anything is rubbing, just the best way I could describe the noise coming from them.

Is it possible that something got iced up from the snow and cold? We just got a few inches of snow maybe something got iced over and was causing the noise :dunno:

Might check for one over tightened lug nut or might even consider rotating that one tire to the rear and see where the noise goes.
If the noise goes to the rear, I would go back to the tire store and suggest they replave the tire, possible bad tread or separation of the tread from the tire body??
Just ideas.

sounds like you're out of balance, or a U-joint coincidently went out at that time.

The tire size you describe won't rub at all! You might be on to something with the snow and ice though. Have you checked up in the wheel wells, or built up behind the wheel where snow gets pulled through the backside of the wheel?
