Does a OBD II Code Reader Work on a '98 RR

I am considering getting a Code reader for my cars. Does anyone know if the 98 Range Rover HSE 4.6 is OBD 11 compliant. This is a North American vehical.

The unit I am considering is a INNOVA 3100 OBD II. I have found this unit new on e-bay for $119 USD.

This is the price range I am looking in, as I am definetly Backyard.

any help is appreciated.

all 96 and newer vehicles sold in North America were required to be OBD2 compliant.

I personally reccomend http://www.obd-2.com/
I've purchased one of his units and gotten great support from him. He also does "group" buys, if there are say 5-10 people interested in buying them, he will drop the price.

He even has Rover specific trouble codes that he last updated 05/29/04

closed for holidays

I went on to the web site that Random supplied, but unfortunatly the company is on holidays until Nov. 25. I have a check engine light on and I am hoping to resolve the problem well before that date. Thanks for the response thought.

Most Autoparts stores will read the codes for you for free. Not sure if you have an Autozone close by, but they have done it for me in the past.

WARNING: I have NEVER used an OBD system despite being electrical engineer and running several high mileage vehilces. I almost bought one recently ! Does that count ?

I can get one of these above for $99 at Kragen. I think this model is market share leader and has very good code books as I recall from research. It looks like it is the same thing you are considering.

Don't know much about RR specific codes. Do know they exist.
