Has anybody installed a stronger spring on the oil pump to raise the oil pressure? I removed the spring today and stretched it hoping it will raise the pressure. I want to say I got the pressure up by 2 pounds at idle so 11psi and 55psi at 3k RPM's. keep in mind this engine has 196k and I don't know the history of this engine. I found a stronger spring here Better spring. just wanted to see if anybody has done this yet?

the spring is part of the pressure bypass valve, for over pressure. I don’t think the spring has any effect on under pressure

IMO it can cause under pressure if it got soft over the years cos it relieves pressure when it's not supposed to

well i got the adaptor to install an after market pressure gauge on the second port on the timing cover. so once i get the engine back in. i will break my cam in with the old spring. Once the new spring comes in i will install it and see if the pressure goes up. I should have taken oil pressure reading before I rebuilt the engine.
