When I replaced my oil separator it became obvious that someone may have tried to do so before, successfully or not, and damaged the tube it resides in. It has bite marks from pliers and rough edges. Is it possible to get a replacement tube?

Also, which direction is it supposed to be inserted. My had to open end facing up, but I have seen pictures with the closed end (the end with just a small hole in it) facing up.

My 03 had the closed end with the small hole facing up. This confused me also. My understanding is that earlier trucks just had a tube that the separator fits in, no closed end. I'm not an expert so you should double check this.
