I noticed an open hole while under my Disco 2 today.

the hole is on the right side of the oil pan looking aft about half way up.
just over and up from the oil pan drain plug
immediately above the bolt
i cleaned the area around the hole
it is about an inch or so opening and i can see gears in the hole

Not sure if a plug is supposed to be in this hole and if so what type of plug
Would anyone know what should be in this hole and how do I get a replacement part?

thanks

Yeahhhh, there definitely should be a plug in there. If you look at the other side in the same location, you should see a black rubber stopper. Not sure if you'll need to pull the oil pan off or not to install it, but it would probably make it a lot easier.

I think this is the right part here: Oil Pan Grommet (Rear) - Land Rover gaskets and seals from Atlantic British

Just an access hole to get to the torque converter bolts. Should be a rubber plug in there to keep crud out .. But not a critical part.

That can't be your oil pan, the oil is supposed to be on the OUTside dripping on the ground.
