I got tired of adding a qt/week so I dug in and found I could replace the gasket between the 2 halves of the P/S pump....leak solved! 25USD online.
...Now its dry as a bone...YAY! but the steering is stiff all the time...
Q: Could I have introduced air into the system? and if so, is there a way to bleed it off?:serious

There is a bleeder nipple on the steering box. With engine running, open and bleed while turning the wheel lock to lock until no more air comes out.
