P1701 Trouble Code

I have the dreaded "Select Neutral" Message, and P1701 code...
The car move in and out of high/low range just fine, barring the strange flashing LEDs and dummy lights.
What should I do? If I should just clear the code? what is a good value on a ODB2 reader/clearer?

UPDATE....
I have bought OBD2, cleared the codes, and tried a fuse in F11.
To my surprise the car shifts just fine with the fuse present!
No codes yet, but different behavior depending on whether the fuse is there!

I get no low range either way
