I have a 1995 P38 4.6 Range Rover that has a temperature & petrol gauge with a mind of its own! Temperature gauge has just started to rise until the red light comes on. Actual temp in engine is normal. Have had new radiator fitted over 12 months ago and had no problems until now. To add to this, the petrol gauge has gone into competition with the temp gauge and is going up and down as it so desires! ( reading empty when full and then suddenly rising) Two isolate problems or instrument cluster?

You should rule out the coolant temp sensor/it's wiring and the tank sender unit, might be simple as that
