I've managed to remove the old boot and I've also removed the clip that the boot was glued to. My question is how does the clip/frame attach back to the console? I still need to glue my new boot to it, but I'd like to assure I can fit it properly before gluing the boot to the frame. If there's anything I am missing please let me know. Help is appreciated.

The clip is squeezed at the base and then when it flares out it is held in place.

I just did this a month ago.... Have faith.... You can do it.... There is a difference between the (Top Bottom ) and the sides. Get that part correct.
It took me 5 days to get the glue all setup. I user C-clamps to hold things in place for a day on each flap.
You need to think about how it came off... It was sort of in-side-out... that is how it need to go back on.
