Hi,

Anyone have GPS coordinates or cross streets for Pine Barrens, NJ?

My folks live near Philly, and I was wondering if I could run over there for some fun next time I'm visiting.

Any other info from people who've been there before? I've read that there's some *deep* mudholes. Are they mandatory? Is it public property? Anyone know of maps? etc.???

Thanks!

Hey Chris,

When I usually go to the Pine Barrens I usually go in by Atsion Ranger Station in Wharton State Park, there are a lot of trails back there that are legal to go on.

Heres a link to a mapquest map of it.

Pine Barrens has miles and miles of mostly sandy-type trails, lots of deep water pits.. There are usuaully go arounds to the deep water.. It's fun going there a couple times, but after a while, the water just gets old..

here's a pic of me in one of the water pits;

Thanks for the info... that's enough to get started. No so far from my parent's house. I'm not wild about the water (although that's a great picture!) -- I just wanna get my tires muddy, not the floormats and seats!!!

Series3Guy - have a look here:

Ya gonna wheel the 109? If you want to go wheeling, I'll let you know the next time we're going out.. usually get a good group together anywhere from 4-15 rovers.. (mostly discos, ranges, freelanders).. go to Paragon, Mahwah, areas around the pine barrens w/ less water, etc.. I may try to plan a trip to Rousch Creek in the upcoming month or two.

Are you going to MAR?

Mahwah has great trails... but not legal.. the only time I go up there legally is with ROVERS.. Frank Battersby organizes a cleanup (about 90% wheeling, 10% cleanup) .. we went up there this past weekend, 4 discos.. some nice rocky easy trails, and some more technical areas I played in.. He said he's going to try to plan one more before winter.. so i'll let everone know.. he likes to limit it to only a few trucks (between 5-10) tho..

Stag Hill (right off of 17) is great though, nice rocky trails, inclines/declines some mud pits.. not legal though, and the Jackson Whites (Indians) own portion of it and have been known to chase people out with rifles.. last time I went there, we left at like 4am.. as soon as we hit the highway a cop pulled us over.. luckily he was cool and just said "no wheelin in stag hill"

Yeah I know Stag Hill Road, all of that land up there is privately owned by Jackson Whites and others. A friend owns about 70acres up there and there have been a lot of new houses in the last 5-6 years. Anyway keep me in mind I would appreciate it!
The cleanup sounds like a great idea! :buttrock:
