Pod near sunroof control: Garage Door Opener?

1664 Views 6 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  Rover_Hokie
On my car, there is a strange little pod on the overhead controls near the sunroof controls. It has 3 buttons on it marked 1, 2 and 3. There is an icon that looks like a garage or house on it. I can't find any mention of this in the Rave workshop or owners manuals.

Is this thing a built-in garage door opener? If so, how do I program it? The car is a 2000 Discovery II North American Spec.

Thanks.

It is. It's called Homelink. I would go into detail about how to program it, but it can get complicated, as there are different ways depending on the type of system you have.

It sounds like you have the owners manual, look in there for homelink, the version I have right in front of me shows a different style, with the buttons on the rearview, but operation is the same if thats what you manual shows as well.
It is mentioned in both the owners manual and the Rave. You need to spend more time looking.

I spent an hour pouring through the sections on controls, driving, accessories, everything I could think of in the bookmarks. There is no index and information is only useful if you can find it. The workshop manual is, after all, a 1500 page haystack and Homelink is a pretty small needle.

I did find the information with a forum search however, with instructions. So thanks all for that. Someone also mentioned that you have to go to the 2002 owners manual for information on Homelink. My Disco is a 2000 model.

Thanks, Dave.

Actually, I don't have an owners manual, only what comes in the RAVE. I have a 2000 model, so I was looking in the "NAS" manual. There is no mention of HomeLink until you get to the 2002 model year manual. I let Acrobat search the entire workshop manual (1999MY-on, 6th edition) and it found no mention of HomeLink. Perhaps I have an obsolete edition of RAVE?

But no matter; the good people of this forum had discussed it in the past and I'm all set now.

Thanks again for the reply.
I have a 2000 and there is a section in the printed owners manual for the homelink. Check the rave owners manual section not the workshop section. If you need any info let me know.
