Cant believe they havent recalled the 1999-2004 propshaft. Just bought a newer 2003 Disco and after inspecting and find an upgraded propshaft with greasable joints I discovered a hairline crack in the tranny. The aftermath of a self destructing uni joint obviously. Have many need to fail or explode before they realise how fkn dangerous these things are.

Had me bitchn session.
I feel better now

Recalls typically deal with issues regarding occupant safety, not vehicle reliability. A driveshaft may take out your transmission, but they'res nothing that will happen to the occupants because steering and braking are unaffected.

Besides, there's no excuse for letting your driveshaft reach failure. Replacing all 4 u-joints (front and rear) and the centering ball costs about $150.
