Radiator hose blew

1603 Views 4 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  RWilson
'01 Disco II w/155k miles. Went for a drive tonight and smelled coolant. Stopped and smoke started billowing out of the engine well. After looking around, I found a 1-inch hole in one of the coolant hoses. Patched it with gorilla tape and got it to a safe place, without redlining the temp gauge.

I know I can buy the individual hose piece, but I feel like maybe I just need to go ahead and replace all of the coolant hoses; just to be on the safe side.

Is there a place I can buy the whole kit or do I need to piece it all together?

Thanks for the help!

Hoses over 4 yrs old, good idea. Rovers North and Atlantic British are a couple of on-line sources. I'm sure more will come. Try Ebay too.
Consider getting a block test done and testing if your hoses are blowing because they are old or under too much pressure from a head gasket leak.

my gut says that they're just old. Previous 2 owners said they never changed them. Head gasket was changed 4 years ago, driven on the highway for 2 years, and then parked for 2 years. I just started driving it again.

however, I'm going to get a full diagnostic done on it as soon as it's up and running again.
Atlantic British has a full hose kit. Their delivery is amazing as well. Very fast.
