My 2005 LR3 has no sound out of the speakers, however, the radio/CD player are on and seem to be working. This has happened in the past, and the solution has been to turn the car off and then turn it back on.

It just happened again today. I tried turning the car off, waiting a minute and restarting it, but the sound woundn't come out of the speakers. After searching this site for a solution and still not coming up with any answers, I went back outside, turned the car on, and now it WORKS! :buttrock:Seems like letting it sit out in the driveway for about half an hour fixed the problem.

Does anybody have any advice? Hopefully this won't happen again:dunno:

Same exact thing happened to me last week with my '06. :dunno:
I plan on taking it to the dealer next week while I still have a little bit of warranty left.

I have a '07 HSE with the same problem. Now it has progressed to the navigation system and that completely shuts down. This problem happens a lot with the radio and nav system. Land rover has looked at the car numerous times. Two different dealers have verified the problem. LRNA says the car is fine. I have video recordings of the problems, on several different occasions. I have had to sue LRNA over this issue. They are claiming that my iPhone is causing all of the problems. I have had 3 different iphone models and it happens with all of them.

I had a similar problem with my '06 a few months ago. The speakers weren't functioning on any input for a few hours, but they eventually came back. The problem hasn't happened since. And no, the speakers weren't muted and the volume wasn't turned down...

I had the same thing the day before I was leaving on a road trip ONLY the cd player would produce sound even though the display on the radio worked fine. I got to work in stone silence called the dealer and on my way to the dealership it started working again. They pushed a software update to the stereo and amp and said that tends to fix the problem though it makes no sense why that would work given my cars other systems hadn't been recently flashed or updated but no problems since.

Radio works, but no sound thru Speakers

I had a similar problem with my 06 LR3 about 7 weeks ago on my radio where the cd, ipod input, and bluetooth all worked thru the speakers, but the radio would not work. At the time, I thought either the radio became defective or the antenna amplifier died and needed replacing. So I took it to LR dealer and they first told me that radio was defective and covered under warranty. They replaced it with a refurb radio and when I got it the radio stations would not pick up as good and got alot of static as if the connection to the antenna was bad or ant amp went bad. Took back a second time and then they told me they had to replace the entire antenna. Then I called back later that day to see if it was ready for pickup, then they said that it was the another defective radio and not the antenna. They had to order a new radio and now have been waiting for 7 weeks for a new radio from the dealer that said it would be only 1-2 wks. I have called once a week and even talked with General Manager and they tell me that its back ordered from UK. I even contacted LR Customer Service but did not help. Need some help here! How do I get the ball rolling on this? - a BBB complaint, etc?

I had the same issue a couple of times. Sometimes turning off and back on works. The others I had to disconnect the battery for 30 min. System reset and all works again.

How do you do a system reset or is this what happens when you disconnect Battery for 30 minutes or longer?

Also, what do you recommend if that doesn't work?

Your help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Disconnecting the battery causes the reset / reboot. I’ll do this anytime I get one of those quackie issues or ambiguous messages on the information display that doesn’t clear itself. Just like with any computer. If it’s not acting right, try a reboot first.

radio fault

hi all just stripped my radio out of my rr sport, i was trying to find out why i had no sound one day, then worked the next and then no sound at all.
when i put radio back in, i found there are two firbe optic beams that come from the rear of the radio, one is for the sat nav, the other is radio sound to your amp, i only had one beam and it was on the right side of the optic plug at rear of radio, so this gave sound for sat nav, the left beam was not there meaning no sound going to amp so radio/cd player no sound. when i told my mate who works at r r reading he was surprised that i had found that fault, as they new nothing, so i still have to buy a new radio.
i only took it out to see if i could see a dry joint when i took it out of its casings. i hope this helps, my symptons where a buzzing sound, then no sound, then sound , then nothing at all but radio/cd player worked fine when looking at the display. GOODLUCK AND HAVE A LOOK YOURSELF.

The amp is most likely going out for most of your problems some it doesn't sound like an amp issue but the harman Kardon amps aren't really what you call quality made but they sound great when the sound works one day then not at all your amp is most likely on its last leg

Just posted this in the other thread. Check this area first.

I have an 06 and had this same exact problem. After beating my head against CANBUS, wiring diagrams and trouble shooting charts for a week it turned out to be a good old fashioned corroded wire. So take a close look at the harness before shelling out for a big ticket item like an amp.

This is where the trouble was found in my 06 HSE.
Open the passenger front door, remove the plastic sill trim that covers the edge of the carpet and take a close look at the wiring harness that runs along that side of the truck under the carpet. Mine was wet, dirty and had a number of damaged wires.

Repaired the harness and everything worked as it should.

Hope that helps.

I used to own a car audio store. What I have seen in my 07 that I have owned for a month now is if the radio is left on when the key is shut off, sometimes it will have sound when the key is turned on and sometimes not. I've done just some basic troubleshooting and found that the rear passenger pods still have sound, and hard resets are temporary. What I would ask all of you to try with similar issues is to turn off your radio before you shut your truck off.
On modern cars, ex. "Camaro" you have to turn off the radio before you remove it to put in a aftermarket radio. There must be a data collision or software issues in these radios. So if you shut it off manually, and turn it on manually it seems to work 100% of the time for me. It is tough getting into this habit, but for a no cost fix, it's worth trying.
NOTE: The radio needs to be working with audio to use this method. If you have no sound at all, ever I would try the fuses, hard rest methods first.

I just bought a 2006 LR3 and the radio display looks as though everything is ok when I start it up but no sound comes out. If I drive it for about a mile or so, sometimes longer, the sound will come on and work fine.

I have tried hard reset

I don't have a phone hooked up to it and I don't plan to but the radio displays "Phone Removed" I feel like this may have something to do with the issue but I haven't been able to find any solutions
