I was talking in another post about trying to replace a lost rear guard and after all the talk about how badly they were designed I decided to build my own.
Once again out of old kitchen hardware. I threaded the steel rods with my new/old tap and die that my Granddad left me. The sides will attach right behind where the quarter panel jets back, so as not to get caught on the trail. [Posting tomorrow after they dry and are mounted]
Coating them with Permatex undercarriage spray. The square tube will be capped with ebay square tube plastic end caps.[$2 for 4]
The rods where pretty easy to bend in a vise to the shape I needed. Think I am going to use the rest of the grid tubing to repair the front guard that lost the steel insert as well.
Also using part of the steel rod grid for a amp/capacitor mount that will be inserted over the top of the rear window/passenger side below the bazooka tube..will post later...
