The rainy season has started here in Seattle. The perfect time for the rear sunroof to get stuck open (I promise, there was a sunbreak!). This is a 2004 Discovery II.

I've checked the fuses and all are intact.

The switches seem good: Pressing the front and rear switches for the rear sunroof elicit a click from what I think is the ECU (behind the front switch pack).

My hunch is dead motor :(

Is there a way to manually close the sunroof in the meantime??

:help

Looks like it's a *dying* motor at least.

I got it to close by holding down the switch and banging on the motor (general area, through the headliner). Must've freed up the brushes and it worked a charm. Now to remember to NOT TOUCH IT :)

I'd still like to know – for when my kids open it – how, if possible, to manually close it. Know how?

I read in the shop manual that there is a manual drive point under a plastic plug, close to the motor. It needs a hex socket to manually operate the window.
