I am pretty sure it is spot welded onto that body panel.
Cut, grind, weld may be the only way to get it done.
Possibly access from underside with the bumper off?

Hi Anthony, I took the checker assembly (8 in the photo) out earlier this year. Cleaned and greased the assembly. Can't remember about the pin though. Easy enough job to pull and check out. While you are there clean and grease...made the door feel 20 pounds lighter when closing.

The check strap is straight forward but the pin it attaches to on the body....?

IMO it's held at the bottom with same circlip like at the top that's why it has channels at both ends so you have to find a way to reach and remove it
