In the next few months I will be rebuilding the front end of my D1. I am looking at putting in a front TT, HD axles, and re-doing the entire brake system.

Here are my questions:
1 - What rotors will give the best stopping power and don't cost an arm and a leg? Keep in mind that I wheel alot and it is my understanding that certain slotted and drilled rotors are prone to getting rocks stuck in them.

2 - What else should I be replacing while I am in there? CV?

3 - How good are the aftermarket steering rods and so forth?

4 - Best (as in good price) place to get front TT?

roverX,
I can't help with the True Trac or brakes questions, but I'd advise you to replace the soft rubber bits since you'll have the system apart...ie, flex brake hoses, might want to upgrade to stainless...also, replace those swivel housing seals.

Just check the condition of the CV when you are in there, prolly don't need to replace unless you have the tell-tale clicking...

GBR will build you a complete front-end: axle, TT, etc and won't charge you a core-charge for your current set-up,,,honor system prior to charge on the return. Bill is great to work with and can answer all your questions.

Regarding steering rods, I'm very happy w/ the RTE drag link & tie rod. I hung up this weekend on the drag link going over a very challenging rock obstacle & the link held w/ no problem,,,they are strong enough to jack the vehicle up by them. Rover Tracks also makes serious HD tie rods, panhard, and drag link.
