This was an upgrade and a rebuild on this system. I have had the rectangle lights for several years but I decided to go to 2 a side instead of 4 and added 2 rear lights as well.

When I first did this I was on a tight schedule and did not terminate the wires the way I wanted to. So I went back and soldered all the terminations and used heat shrink on all the connections. The fourth relay is now above the overhead console as well as fused power feed. There is a small auxiliary fuse box under the seat in front of the EOM/radio amp that holds 6-40 amp fuses leaving me 3 future slots.

I took the time to go label crazy and label every wire EOM an aftermarket that I could find, including several that where future wires I installed years ago.

I also added three switches to the auxiliary light module [In the center console] so I now have light control on all 4 sides.

Nice work. Have you been out and about with the forward facing lights in the dark? Have issues with lighting up the hood/bonnet surfaced? I know a lit up hood/bonnet has quite an effect on how far one can see, and often the range of the lights themselves can't be appreciated due to this.

I am aware that range increases the higher the lights are mounted but decided in my case to accept the compromise and leave the business lights on the front end where they started (two are blocked when carrying the winch, a compromise I can live with) and put two lights on the roof rack above the rear passenger doors for peripheral lighting. I still need to put lights on the rear...

That looks really good! I used to have 2 lights that went in that exact location on the front (Behind the winch), took them off to when I got hit in a head-on collision a couple of years ago. All the wiring is still there to re-install them. Seeing your makes me want to do it again.
The side lights are cool, it took me a couple of looks to actually see them. My side light are adjustable up and down and side to side by hand.

I originally mounted my winch in the same location that yours is in but, the Rover guys gave me hell about how far out is was, they said it would act like a shovel in the mud, so I moved it back behind the grill. Yours looks good! Is that a kit with both the grill and winch or did you build that yourself?

Yes I am, and the 110 I hate to admit has gotten almost no love and attention this summer. I've been up to my ears with the MGB

Frikin MGB.... @*&%)(%^$^ :) I owned a '72 when I was 15 and almost killed myself in it. Massively fun car but Warriors should be spending their time rebuilding men's cars [Station Wagon]! :)

Rodewaryer, I kind of skirted around the front light off road question. I have had the truck off road once since I installed/re-installed my light setup. I think I have plenty of light to the front.

Those HID's put out a tremendous amount of light and everything in front of the truck is easy enough to see at night with the mains.
That being said I would still like to re-install the pair over the winch....mainly because everything is already there.

One comment I have on your light setup, is the lower pair to the outside of the winch. I like them but, would never mount them there because I would be guaranteed to knock them off even in light use without off-roading. I am just to hard on the truck to have them that exposed.

The other side off that coin is that if I was in Boston or N.E. area, I would think that kind of setup (Winch included) would work well for pulling yourself out of snow drifts or someone else and for street/highway usage.

Mine seems to get bent up doing hardly anything. I had a tree fall on the darn thing a couple of years back out of the blue!

Your truck is absolutely beautiful and I think everything you have done on it looks very sharp and professional and functional.

Tex

Yup you're right, that thing down right scares me...even seeing the pictures you posted, I remember the how small that thing was and that engine is a monster in comparison...Your Dad cracks me up with the Ford logo...:)

Weird not seeing you nursing a Range Rover..found this with some of my SNHLR photos. What color is the car going to be in the end?

Yeah I've been RRC free for about 7 months now. That was a long time ago lol.

Keep your eyes on that thread I'm off for the next 8 days so a lot should be happening. She should be a bit of a beast when I'm done.

Rodewaryer, here was my winch back when I had it install in about the same location as you. I used 2 solid steel 1"x1" square steel as the bracket off the frame. Just shortened it when I moved it back behind the brush guard. Took forever to drill through it.

I actually liked it better the way it was aesthetically but,
I got stuck a time or two in deep mud with it, so I guess it stays where it is.

Again another farmer type install....

Hi everyone
Just thought I would add to this link
2002 d2 on 275/65r18s and terrafirma 2 inch medium duty lift. Fitted with a trimmed d1 bumper
32 inch combination spot/flood l.e.d. Light bar on front bumper (out of immediate harms way)
Also 2 ultra high intensity osram projector l.e.d,s mounted on the roof rack (man are they bright!)
Also have a 3" x 6" .? I think l.e.d. Flood mounted on the rear of the rack
I also run a 8000k pure white h.i.d conversion
Just thought I would share my ideas.
Nice having lots of light down low and not lighting up the hood and windshield

You should spend a bit more time on the other forum. You could keep up on my insanity better, and maybe post in the thread so I'm not the only one talking in it lol.

Search postings over there, you'll find about a dozen in the modification section that I have posted in the last 6 months. Besides you have to be used to talking to yourself....just pretend you have a gun in your hand, you'll be fine!
