What's up everyone. I've finally brought my rover up from down south ( Atlanta, ga and then Greenville/Spartanburg, SC), and I'm trying to baby it again...soooooooo my question is this: has anyone heard of or have used products from a company called Royal Purple. I was told this product works wonders for vehicles and also the product of choice for race cars. Does anyone have any knowledge of its validity. I do know it's expensive. Any input would greatly be appreciated

When it comes to engine oil I tried many on my two RRC & on my Dico2, best I found was Rottella 15w40, for the TC and diffs the mobil1 gear oil.

X2 on the Rotella 15-40..... I ran Royal Purple in my 95 4.2 LWB and the lifters shot out of the crankcase......not good.....$4,000 later with newly rebuilt different 4.2 block I am once again running Rotella 15-40 and adding B&G oil additive. Nothing better for the money IMHO

Ali,
Use a high quality oil, Rotella is one of many, and make sure to change it at regular intervals. For the engine, 3500 miles is good. Use a quality filter as well and you will be fine. As far as the diffs, transfer case, axles and transmission are concerned, do the same here. It's more important that you maintain a proper level and replace the oil on a regular basis than anything else. Certainly, if you want to spend three times as much for oil than is necessary, go for the purple stuff or the red line stuff or whatever makes you feel better. I don't know if there are any real benefits for a 20 year old truck beyond the psychological.
