Yes, notice the swivel balls in the first pic. See how they are almost even with the top of the rim?01001010 said:Portal Kit???
Looks like a standard Rover front axle.....I wonder how that works out with the rear drive-shaft?DISCO INCUBUS said:That is crazy lookin, in a good way. Is that rear axle a modified RR front axle ? reverse
pumpkin?
Holy crap!...I see it! Guess that would be for more ground clearance??? How does the tire spin??? Or what sort of hub is the tire/wheel mounted on? Where do the axles come out to???Hank said:Yes, notice the swivel balls in the first pic. See how they are almost even with the top of the rim?

Good eye , i thought it was an optical delusion![]()
I've never seen one personally on a rover, but I would say it's a stock front axle, found in most rovers. Where you spindle, drive flange, ect...would normanlly go, I guess there is some sort of "geared hub" thats drops the actual "spindel" (or what ever you would call it then) down ~7" or so. This sets the Diff up an extra ~7" off the ground, gives you a ~7" lift, yet leaves all you drive-line at stock tolerances.01001010 said:Holy crap!...I see it! yeah, i'm going to have to agree with you on that one.Hank said:I don't think those are portals, per say. Or, at least true portals.... I still think they are LR axles with some sort of portal kit.
So, I don't think they would be as strong as the C101 Volvo or Unimog axles, but still a cool kit.
