Hi everyone,
Been avoiding the fact that my transmission brake needs attention.I've removed
the retaining nuts from the drum(with great effort)but am stuck on the castle nut.Is there a risk of damaging the transfer case,if I torque it to much trying to remove it?

You don't need to remove the drive shaft or the castlated retaining nut to service your park brake. If you want to remove the backing plate, strip and chrome it all, then yes. To service anything in there, you don't need to remove it.

Anything is possible, but you would have to have all the stars lined up against you and break a few rules of physics to break anything in the transfer box by removing the castlated nut. Make sure you are turning it the proper direction and it should come off pretty easy. Put it in low range, gearbox in first and block the wheels or have someone hold the foot brake on. It should come right off.
