Hi, my series diesel makes conversion above 30mph a shouting experiance.

What cheap solutions to making talking possable are there?

I have thought about bog standerd carpet, especially for bathrooms in the back, cost about £20 for a roll. But this will be difficult to wash.

Would prefer somthing rubbery, such as linolinium, but this seems exspensive. although may be good for paneling inside too?

How about for the engine bay, sound proof kits seem to be £100 plus. Are there any building materials that are readily available instead- neet to be heat and waterproof.

Also something to stuff in my door cavity

Have seen adverts for liquids to paint onto panels, but these are not cheap and my not work too well.

May have to invest in earplugs/ motorycle type intercom!

How abouit getting some Rubber convyer belting from a mine someware & useit as a lining in the cab. About 1/2 inch thickness would do wonders on noise from your drivetrain.

You can also wash it out with a hose if it gets muddy.

I chose to purchase the Wright-Off-Road matting system and whilst it isn't cheap, the noise was cut about 66%! :)

A regular user of another forum recommends camping roll-mats, which I will be trying at the end of the rebuild.

His most important (if obvious) point was to try to eliminate noise, rather than hide it, by properly fixing sources of ratltles and squeaks, servicing the vehicle and carefully tuning the engine and setting the tappets.
