Hey, I'm new to the forum. I've had my 2000 discovery II for almost a year and have already worked out most of its issues but am having some issues with the speedometer and transmission faults.

Speedo intermittently drops to zero. When I hook my scanner to it and look at live data there is no speed being indicated there either so I guess it isn't the gauge cluster but the computer (called SLABS if I understand) the speed sensor, or wiring. Not really narrowed down as far as I'd like...

Wondering if there is a better diagnostic procedure anyone has, or maybe its a common problem?

It's your speed sensor - fairly common issue.

For reference, the SLABS is the module that controls the braking/ABS system. It's unrelated to the problem you're having. Our cars also have an ECM (engine module), TCM (transmission module), BCM (body control module), and probably a few others that I'm missing.
