does anyone in here know if bad gas could cause my engine to seem like it is skipping or sputtering. my engine is doing that now and i think it may be the gas i am using. i have a 01 disco with 53000 miles. the check engine light also came on, but couldn't that be because of the bad emissions from the bad gas. any info would be appreciated thanks!

find the throttle plate area of your intake manifold. It should be easy to find, it will have the cable/linkage that opens and closes it when you press the gas pedal. The throttle plate rotates on a shaft that sticks out the side of the intake, and that has a sensor stuck on the end that sort of looks like a fat T. It should attatch with 2 screws, possibly star drive ones if I remember correctly. It has a plug with wires coming out. Just disconnect the plug...
