SRS light- pretensioners

I asked this question as a follow up in another thread but I wanted to start a new topic with the title in case someone with some knowledge on the subject didn't see it.

SRS: I had the codes read.
1) 9016 - Open Circuit Fault in Left Pretensioner Circuit
2) 9020 - Open Circuit Fault in Right Pretensioner Circuit

It's going into an indy shop next week that has some rover experience but don't specialize in them. I'm hoping the can track down an issue that's just a connection or something simple. Has anyone dealt with having these two codes? They're good at what they do, but I know they're open to ideas on possible causes.

Also, if ends up being that the actual pretensioners have failed.....should I go with new ones or buy some used off ebay?
