The steering wheel in my '95 RRC has a nasty squeak. It sounds like rubber rubbing together but I can't see anything toucing Rubber. What is squeaking, and more importantly how do I fix it?

The steering wheel in my '95 RRC has a nasty squeak. It sounds like rubber rubbing together but I can't see anything toucing Rubber. What is squeaking, and more importantly how do I fix it?

I get the same kind of squeak in my disco every now and again , it is the steering shaft rubber boot on the firewall in the engine bay, spray some silicone or wd40 in and around the rubber boot , that should keep it quiet
for a while.

I don't think it's a maintenance item.
It's probably just gotten old.

I usually get that squeaky sound on the first cold morning of the season. After
a few good squirts of silicone spray the squeak disappears for the season.
That is just my own personal experience.

Okierover is right it is definitely not a maintenance item.

If you have a persistent squeak you will probably have to go the repair route. :bawling:
