Anyone know of a good way to brighten the aluminum engine parts besides a blasting method?
I'm not really looking for a super finish, but I just want to brighten up some parts before I put them back on. They are still very dull and dark looking after I cleaned and degreased them.

I've used a silicone oil lubricant on rubber before and it seemed to allow the rubber to remain soft. Any recommendations on products to extend the life of door weather strip seals and even the rubber engine and shock mounts?
A column happened to graze my front wheel arch while a family member was driving (no fault / blame!). Is there a way to remove scratches from this? I've seen the heat trick for fading and minor scratches, but this removes the texture, too. Better to bite the bullet and buy a new one...
