Hi everyone. I have a 2012 Freelander, and last night the auto open and close sun roof stopped working. I have to manually hold the button closest to the windshield down for it to close, which I would deal with, but you have to let it go at the exact right moment or the sunroof tilts up a little and it doesn't close all the way. I also have to hold down the button that's closest to the rear of the car to open it all the way. If I let it go, it stops moving.

I've seen where you can reset the sunroof, but I can't for the life of me get the right sequence. I've mostly seen where it says to hold down the rear button until it clicks, but mine never does, the front button clicks, and I've tried 1000 ways to fix this, has anyone ever had this happen?

This happened to my 2008 the other day and I tried a hundred times to make it work using the hold down sequence, but on the 101st it worked! With the car running and the sunroof in the closed position, I pressed and held the OPEN button (towards rear of vehicle) for a full 30 seconds, holding even after it was fully open. There was no click or anything otherwise to let me know it worked, but it did! Was able to auto-close and -open after that. I hope this works for your 2012. Maybe the service dep't at your local LR dealership can talk you through it if that doesn't work.
Good luck and let me know if it worked!

Cheers!

Most cases you can reset the windows by holding the switch up for a while and then down for a while. Sometimes it really does get stuck. My sunroof got stuck open, dealer wouldn't comment on a possible solution despite the fact that they were closing, had no appointments for 3 days and it was snowing. I eventually had to have the computer reset to close it. Keep trying to reset with the button, try again after a few drive cycles. Pull the battery for a bit and try again.

Unfortunately this didn't work either :( I'm going to D/C the battery and if that doesn't work, It's a call to the dealership. Hopefully they help me over the phone as it's 120 miles away!

Thank you!
