I wanted to keep my truck in neutral while doing an engine rebuild and mistakenly put it in park when I rolled it out of the garage. Anyone know how to get it back in neutral with the engine out. The battery is at 11. When I connect the battery it still won't work.
Thanks for any tips!

Hi Heather - glad you got the torque converter in OK :smile

the shifter is held by a solenoid that will lock as soon as the lever is put into park. Generally using the battery and pressing the brake pedal will unlock it then you just push the button on the shifter and move it whilst your foot is on the brake pedal.
If you cannot do that pull the shifter cover and the solenoid is on the RHS at the base of the shifter. You should be able to push the pin on the solenoid back far enough to move the shifter - once it moves from park the pin is held in by a barrier so just move the shifter a few mm back towards neutral once the pin is disengaged and it will keep moving. the solenoid is item 4
here is the page from rave

Another method -

If you are interested leaving the transmission in neutral - one simple approach is to remove the clip that retains the shifting cable. It is easy enough to find under the truck, drivers side. With the clip removed - the cable is released allowing the shift lever of the transmission to be rotated 2 clicks (clockwise?) from park through reverse and into neutral.

I have used this technique to move mine with the engine out - Found it suggested on this forum.
