I have a '95 D1 with the 3.9 motor, 175K, always mine, well cared for.

It has been having trouble holding an idle. When I have had this trouble in the past, I take out the stepper motor, clean it with carb cleaner and put it back in. This works for about 2-3 months. This time it did not work, so I also took out the Throttle Pentometer (electrical piece on the side of the plenium). I cleaned it off as well.

Now I got a Check engine light (#16 - Pentometer), does not hold an idle when warmed up and sputters like crazy with moderate acceleration. Any ideas what to do? DO I replace the Pentometer for $145.00? Will that solve it?

Thanks!

You may well be amazed at just how much difference that $145 part will make. If it's throwing the code, replace the part.

Yeah, check stepper motor. Yours being a 95 rather than 96 on up, the part is different, and cheaper. You should be able to find a stepper motor for app.$50.00 (May also be a GM part) check local auto parts store.

Setting OHMS

My mechanic told me today that the pentometer requires it be set at 72-80 OHMS. Since I have never done this, what is the process??
Thanks!
