Hello out there... I am new to everything and need knowledge to help me through.
I have a '02 D2... it is currently stock and I want to start customizing it.
I just ordered steel winch bumper with brush guard, steering guard plate, steel nerf sliders, rear steel bumper and tire swing away arm. I am adding a lot of weight. By the way I chose Tactical 4x4 for all the above. Eric over at Tactical 4x4 set me up with a sweet deal, he's a good guy.
Anyway, I would like to lift it 3". I believe that is the highest I can go with only changing the break lines. Am I correct?
Could you guys give me direction on what is the best course of action? I don't know how stiff I should go with springs with the added weight. Should I go with air shocks or gas?And which manufactures are the best?
One last thing... I have a set of 16" and 18" rims. The tire size I was thinking for the 16" is LT265 75R16 and the 18" LT285 65R18. I was planning on the Nitto Trail Grappler and not sure which tire would look best is the wheel well after the lift is installed. Does any know or have pics of such?
I appreciate any feed back... I am walking into this blinded.. Thanks

Don't go with a tire based on what looks the best. You'll end up with a POS tire for what you're trying to do. Figure out what type of driving you'll be doing and then read reviews to find a tire that suits those needs. Just about every m/t or a/t will look good in that size range.

most lift kits come with a set of shocks. for a 3'' lift you'll also need an upgraded steering stabilizer, extended abs lines, panhard rods, and a fresh rotoflex joint. change your front driveshaft asap if you haven't yet
