Just bought a pop up camper, it weighs around 3250 lbs, question is, do I need a supplemental transmission cooler ? I live in Colorado, so the summers are not too hot for the most part, but there are a lot of hills and mountain trails. So, do I need one and if so any recommendations. Thanks in advance for any advice.

I don't think so. I used to have an off-road trailer (around the weight of yours), that I hauled all over the country side and never had a problem with the trans heating up to the point where I need to fit an auxillary cooler. Provided that your tranmission fluid is changed more regularily, you will be okay.

No... you don't need it........ I pull my pop-up all over the place. Winter Park, Hoosier pass, leadville..etc..... I still have the stock set up and have no problems!!!!! Where in CO are you? I am in Colorado Springs..... I can show you some pics if ou want.. My pop-up is a 1971 Cox Conestoga.... weighs in at 3000 lbs empty..

The Discovery already has a trans cooler in place. It is the fuzzy looking pipe located in front of the radiator near the bottom. If you are havin' trouble in the mountain passes just slow down. What's the rush? Your Discovery has more power that it has brakes to stop it, especially with a trailer. I assume you pull your pop up to go camping on vacation, or on weekends, so why the big hurry? What year and how many miles are on your truck? How often do you dervice the tranny?
If you are at 100,000 miles or more I would suggest changing your fluid, put in some Lucas tranny additive and add a extra cooler as cheap insurance. Older Rover trannys don't take to more frequent fluid changes so use the best fluid you can use and keep it cool, you'll do fine.
