Does anyone have any experience/advice on towing an LR4 with a moving truck? I am looking at renting a U-Haul for a move from Arizona to Texas, and I would like to be able to tow the LR4 so I don't have to put those miles on it. The maximum load for U-Haul's auto trailer is 5,250 pounds, so technically the LR4 is too heavy. Has anyone found another way to tow the LR4? Would it be too risky to chance it with the 5,250 pound trailer?

I recently towed my Discovery 2 from Baton Rouge, LA to Sarasota behind a 26 ft box truck. Man, was THAT a drive! From what I have read online, and from my experience, the trailer can handle the weight. I held up fine. My Disco has the HD suspension, 32s, rack, ladder and a larger aftermarket front bumper and the trailer so it was a bit over the weight limit, to say the least..

Here's the catch though...the straps to tie it down are short and not made for offroad vehicles. With 32s, the straps appeared to be long enough when I installed them but slid off the tires on the interstate. When I stopped 4 hours later my disco had moved 6 inches back on the trailer! I would have extra straps on hand and make sure it's secured well.

I also had to tell Penske I was going to tow my wife's BMW in order for them to rent it to me. :)
