I just traded in my 2015 discovery sport hse luxury for a 2018 discovery sport hse luxury . the problem is with the transmission . when put into reverse it takes a few minutes to engage also when going slowly in traffic it cant decide which gear to be in first or second any advise on how to correct this??. also after unit warmed up motor sounds like a diesel. anybody have suggestions. still on warranty should i take back dealership and have them check it . also there is a lull when stepping on the gas merging then suddenly takes off my 2015 never had this problem.

I had never had any issues with 1st or 2nd, it always started in 2nd gear. However, I also experienced the reverse randomly not engaging when selected with the rotating knob (9-speed auto awd on a 2016 HSE TD4). Off course this only happened after the factory warranty expired. Powering down and restarting did always the trick for me but your problem seems to be somewhat worse.
