The black pastic trim pieced directly behind the back door glass Is coming off. It came loose from the bottom and it looks like the is a square screw that holds the trim to the truck. It looks like the plastic piece that is held to the screw has broken. The top bracket is still attached. There is also a screw about mid way up that fits in a hole but doesnt appear to attach to anything. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Someone probably tried to remove the c pillar trim at some point. The bottom plastic catch that holds the nut into which the screw fits is notorious for breaking. You can always try to use epoxy to strength the plastic catch but there's no guarantee you won't make the problem worse. There are three captive nuts held in place with plastic catches. Typically, you can remove the two upper screws (especially if you douse them with PB Blaster before you make your attempt) but the bottom one is always tricky. Sometimes by removing the two uppers and pulling the trim away from the truck you create enough resistance to keep the nut in place in the catch while removing the screw.

The other alternative is to buy the trim new and install it with fresh hardware OR buy on used in good shape.

Thanks Paul. I will take another look at it today with your explanation in mind. I would guess the best thing to do would be to replace.
