OK, got a new set of Goodyear MT/R's. 225-75x16, load range 'D', The dealership advised that I run them at 50 psi, just wondering if I could drop them 10 psi for road use as they are really hard riding on the road, any idea's.

Yes you drop them to 40 easily. In 3 or 4000 miles just check them for excessive wear on the outer tread ribs and no wear in the middle.
I run my 265's at 40 with no problem then I drop them to 18 for harder wheeling.
