Thanks for all the advice. Unfortunately, my Disco is a 1996. The dealership was unable to find the code for my model because apparently they did not start keeping codes on file until 1999 (that's what he says). The only thing he recommends I do is to bring the vehicle in and they will take out the radio, get the code, reset, etc.

Does anyone know if the story is true?

I don't buy their story, I would call another dealer and have them request your radio code directly from Rover.

that might be true. The dealership itself may not have kept records.

Of course they may not want to tell you unless you are there in person with proof of ownership.

Usually when you look up the vin you either get a code or four zeros.

Sometimes we dont even get the right code.

its no guarantee the number they give you is right. Especially if you change the radio
