I have a 1998 Range Rover 4.0SE. Due to a flat tire I needed to replace with my spare and noticed that the wheel storage compartment had about 1" of water at the bottom. As there is no noticeable dampness internally does anybody have any ideas as to the possible cause and solution?

famlittle, i don't have a solution for you other than looking at the weatherstrippng, but I can tell you that you're not alone. I also have a '98 4.0 and there's a tendency for water to build in the spare wheel well. I would venture that there is a design flaw somewhere, but changing that weatherstripping should help.

Hi, I have a RR 97 4.6 with exactly the same problem. However I discovered last week that the right hand side tailgate lock doesn't work. I closes on the left hand side, and keeps it tight, but obviously not enough.

I looked into this lock issue and probably its only the wire which is loose. When I lock and open, it pulls the wire, but doesn't return it...

I had a similar problem and it turned out to be windshield washer fluid. The one way valve located on the left rear fender well behind the sub woofer failed and sent a stream of water shooting out. Keep in mind that my rear windshield washer still worked alright during all this.

There is a drain in the classics.. i am surprised the SII doesn't have one too.. maybe its the location under the cargo area as opposed to the side on the classics..
