Waving to other Rover Owners

This thread was started in the Australia section... thought I would bring it mainline...

Do other LR owners wave to you when you wave to them?

Today I waved to a guy in a D90 and he waved back. Also on the freeway a guy in a brand new Range Rover HSE slowed down next to me and waved.. that was a first.

Tell us your stories/experiences.

I get waves from other off-road-fitted Discos,,,, always a wave from Defender drivers. I don't wave at newly purchased Disco's, LR3's, Rangies :dunno: just because there are so many of them in Colo. I don't want a harrassment complaint from a soccer-mom :)
Waving at other Land Rovers is very common in the UK. I always wave at Series and Defender vehicles, and I will return any wave from a Disco / Range Rover etc. I reckon 99% of all the other Series vehicles I pass wave back, and 70% of the Defenders.

Since I drive the same route at the same time everyday you get to 'know' the local Land Rovers. The regulars are 2 Series IIIs, a Defender 90 Pick-Up, a bright yellow highly modified Defender 90 and a 110 G4 Station Wagon.

Jack
I normally wave with one hand...

but forget the other 3 fingers and thumb :D

M,

Seiously though....no waves from me...enough clowns on the road without having to wave in acknowledgemnt of another great truck...If you know it...you know it :dunno:

M,
Wave and be waved at!

I wave at all other Discovery drivers, doesn't matter to me if I am at home or out of town. I even catch myself waving to them as they pass when I am in my wifes car. I do have to agree that the "soccer-moms" in the new Ranges give weird looks as I wave! But I believe in Wave and Be Waved At! I acknowlege all other great Land Rover owners.
i wave all i can . got a few waves back.. but some ppl just dont care .. but ive started using another technique..
if a LR is comming from the opposite direction i use the dipper twice. (flash my high beams)
more often than not ive had some response..like may be a wave or something. may be a flashing headlight..
So i say if u se some one in a LR, flash ,wave or do what u have to
coz we are all one of a kind and we gotta say hi to our buddies once in a while..
I usually wave to all sorts of 4x4's and cars as I beat them off the lights! :D
Most men in my state (Oklahoma) wave if they pass me. The kids (22 and younger) think i'm insane and usually give me the puzzled "why is that old guy waving" look.

I got a nice smile from a soccer mom once, boy that made my day.
I wave to other Disco drivers, but not many wave back. I guess I'm not as good lookin' as I used to be ;) We should post a new thread where for a week we all wave to other Rover drivers and post our results? Together WE can change the world
Always

I always find myself "evaluating". If it is a RRC, Defender, Series or Discovery "rigged" I always wave and they always wave back. :buttrock:

Most of the others, including the newer ones (Disco/LR3/RR) just ignore the wave, give you a weird look or wave not knowing why! :D These vehicles I find are usually seeing more shopping parking lots than dirt roads, let alone being used for what they intended!

So I never bother if it is a woman driver (no offense to the soccer mums - some are cute :D ) or these others driven by anyone!!

ROCK ON IF YOU WAVE!
Range Rover Classic drivers always wave. Normally disco drivers don't wave... not many disco drivers are enthusiasts it seems. Of course there is the occassional wave. Now when driving the Series 2a, that's when you really start to see who's an enthusiast or at least knows their stuff (especially in the US). You get waves and shouts all the time in that thing. :)

SUPPORT your local grocery-getting-LR-drivers. Remember,,, they keep LR in business !! If it was up to us, we would be in our garages welding broken stuff & put LR out of business. :drink1:
Just wave you lazy bastards, wave!

I Wave

MOST OF THE OLDER LANDIES WAVE, THE NEWERS DONT HAVE A CLUE (MY OPINION), GETTING PEOPLE TO WAVE IN MD IS PRETTY THOUGH THOUGH!!!!
Similar to many of you, I live in a big city with LOTS of soccer moms and business dads with rovers. Getting a wave in return is RARE but there are the occasional off-road fitted rovers that'll gladly wave back.

For those who remember, i posted in another thread, i think it was called Rules of Waving, that one time i waved at an LR3 and DII that were riding behind eachother and got waves and went to the extreme of forming a 3 car convoy on the freeway until we all went our seperate ways.

Today, something similar happened but I think it was even cooler than the last time. I rode with another 96 Disco fitted exactly like mine (SE with Running boards) with the exception of the BrushBar and 2 Hellas on the other guy's. Both our trucks were the same Avalon Blue color which I dont see too much of so that was neat. We road for about 8 miles on the freeway in the pooring rain (thunderstorms goin on as i type down here). After parting with him, I got a wave and headlight flashs from a guy in a yellow H1. Because we are a rare breed down here, we do make sure to wave and be courteous. :drink1:

I usually give grins and I get a mutual grind back, usually we eye each others cars, for me this usually always happens with Disco 1s, in NY there are a lot of women driving discos so waving at them might not be the best idea :D
Waving to other Landys in South Africa is common practice. I do it all the tame and usially swar at the other guy if he doesnt have the common courtacy to wave back. Mostly this is the "soccor mum " or " grocrey gettting" tipe. (fools all of them)

Another story, I once had a flat tire. in the time it took met to change the tire next to the road I had 4 other Land rovers (of all modals except rangie) stop and offer help. There is Landy friendship for you!!

I like waving to women, unless they dont look like a woman, hahahahahah...... eh..... I like to wave at everybody and ask big rig trucks to toot their horns, I know its childish but hey if im going to drive I'm going to have fun and loose all the stress from everywhere else.
